Jenin Account

[East Jerusalem, Palestine] Will the fact-finding group from the UN ever get to evaluate the situation in Jenin? Their visit has been delayed several times by Israel. I don't know when (or if) the UN group will arrive, but I have a few friends who have visited the refugee camp site, and here are their first impressions and photos.

Dave, who works for Catholic Relief Services, gets sent around the world to various disaster sites. He says that the scene in Jenin reminded him of an earthquake in India.

Sandra described a new road through the camp which Israeli soldiers created on top of former homes that stood there. Everyone mentioned the mountain of rubble and the hopelessness of the families who were searching for their homes. (They were not at the point of trying to find individual possessions -- they were just trying to locate their house!)
