Tips for writing your Senator or Representative

• Be brief and use your own words! The body of the letter should not be more than half a page.
• In the first paragraph, explain your reason for writing, mention your credentials, if you have met the person or know a friend of theirs, mention it. Be certain to mention that you are a registered voter.
• In the second paragraph, describe the importance of the issue and cite any important facts or figures.
• In the final paragraph, ask your congressman for a specific action. Thank them for their consideration of your views.
• Your signature should include your name, HOME DISTRICT, address, and telephone number.
