Palestinian man stopped while trying to bypass the Bethlehem Checkpoint. Sometimes people are allowed to walk around the checkpoint without being inspected, but today soldiers were positioned to intercept passerbys. This gentleman was turned back. The "border" with Jerusalem is pretty porous, but the separation wall should eliminate most of this type of travel. Those who bypass the checkpoints are usually day laborers without proper papers. Perhaps this man was carrying fruits or vegetables to the Jerusalem market.
