Technology: Slow Internet Connection?

As a missionary in a developing country, you may be faced with the problem of slow Internet connections. What can you do to speed things up a bit?

If graphics aren't essential, don't download them.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5)

• click Tools
• click Internet Options
• click Advanced
• scroll to the Multimedia section
• Unclick Show pictures (there may be some others you want to unclick as well)

In Netscape Navigator (version 4.08)

• click Edit
• click Preferences
• click Advanced in the Category Box
• Unclick "Automatically Load Images"
